One of the more interesting story lines going into the Week 3 contest between the Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings was wide receiver Tajae Sharpe facing his old team for the first time.
However, that will not actually happen, as the Vikings wideout is among the team’s inactives for Sunday’s contest.
It has been a rough start to Sharpe’s tenure with Minnesota. He’s played just 16 snaps through two games and garnered one target, which he was unable to reel in for a catch.
Now, he’s a healthy scratch in Week 3, which is not a good sign for his standing with the team.
The interesting thing is, the Titans could really use Sharpe right now. Wide receiver A.J. Brown could be out longer than anticipated and Sharpe would have been a great depth piece to have in this situation.
It isn’t clear if Sharpe is in the Vikings’ plans moving forward, but it certainly doesn’t look good for him there and perhaps the Titans should at least inquire about a possible trade for the wideout, who would fit in seamlessly thanks to his knowledge of the offense.
Sharpe came up with some big catches for Tennessee in 2020, the final year of his four-year tenure with the team after the Titans drafted him in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Massachusetts product finished the 2019 campaign with 25 catches for 329 yards and four touchdowns.
At most, the Titans would be giving up a late-round pick, or perhaps a swap of late-round picks, and Sharpe is better bet than the vast majority — if not all — of the options out there on the open market.
