Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the regular season finale.
Tannehill led the Titans to a 28-25 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday, which in turn clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC, giving the Titans home-field advantage and a first-round bye.
The Titans signal-caller completed 23-of-32 passes for 287 yards and four touchdowns, with a passer rating of 138.9. No play in Week 18 was bigger than Tannehill’s Houdini-like escape from a sack in the fourth quarter.
Tennessee was clinging to a 21-18 lead at the time and would have given the ball back to Houston with a chance to take the lead had Tannehill been brought down on the third-down play.
Instead, Tannehill somehow found a way to escape despite having a defender on his back, and then found Nick Westbrook-Ikhine for a 36-yard gain, setting up a Titans touchdown just five plays later to make it 28-18.

It has been an up-and-down season for Tannehill, who has had issues with turnovers and overcoming an injury-plagued receiving corps., but he looks to be righting the ship at the right time.
Including his Week 18 performance, Tannehill has thrown for 616 yards and seven touchdowns to zero picks in his last three games, while completing 73.4 percent of his passes. The Titans are 3-0 in that span.
Tannehill and the Titans will hope to keep the momentum going when they return to action next weekend in the Divisional Round.
