Titans’ Ryan Tannehill makes Forbes list of ‘World’s Highest-Paid Athletes’

Where does Ryan Tannehill rank on the list of the world’s highest-paid athletes?

Thanks to the new contract extension the Tennessee Titans signed Ryan Tannehill to this offseason, the quarterback is making an appearance on Forbes’ list of the 100 highest-paid athletes in the world for 2020.

Earlier this offseason, the Titans inked Tannehill to a four-year, $118 million deal following his best season as a pro in 2019, which secures the signal-caller as the team’s starter for the foreseeable future.

Tannehill’s 2020 salary, combined with endorsements, lands him at No. 70 on the list with $25.2 million in total earnings.

Once thought to be done as a starter, Tannehill revived his career with the Titans last season after being acquired in a trade with the Miami Dolphins, the team that drafted him with the No. 8 overall pick in 2012.

Tannehill had an impressive individual season that led to him being named the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year, and he also sparked the team’s turnaround from a 2-4 start to a playoff berth.

He threw for 2,742 yards and 22 touchdowns to six picks, while also adding another 185 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. His passer rating (117.5) was the best in the NFL, and his completion percentage (70.3 percent) ranked second.

Interestingly enough, the guy who Tannehill replaced in 2019, current Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Marcus Mariota, also made the Forbes list. His 2020 earnings of $23.9 million puts him at No. 83.
