Titans RT candidate Jamarco Jones on lost 2022 season: ‘It was [expletive] terrible’

One thing is very clear: Titans OL Jamarco Jones is happy to be back. He also talked about his chance at the right tackle spot.

Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Jamarco Jones is entering his second season in Nashville and, as you’d expect, is hoping for a much better outcome.

Jones didn’t get to see the field in a regular season game in 2022 after the Ohio State product missed the entire campaign due to a triceps injury.

“It was [expletive] terrible,” Jones said of his lost season, per AtoZ Sports Nashville. “But like I said, I’m just glad to be back out here with the guys playing ball.”

“Rehabbing, trying to get back out here as quickly as possible, it just didn’t happen the way I wanted it to happen, but I’m back here now,” he added.

Upon his return to the field, Jones finds himself with a golden opportunity at a starting job at right tackle now that Nicholas Petit-Frere is suspended for the first six games of the 2023 campaign.

In fact, Jones was named one of two players who are getting significant early reps in the competition for the temporarily open job, along with 2023 UDFA and fellow offensive lineman, John Ojukwu.

“I’m just trying to go out there, compete and help the team out anyway I can. Just glad to be back on the field,” Jones said of his opportunity.

When asked about if he’s a better pass-protector or run-blocker, Jones didn’t go into specifics but believes he has the ability to impact the game in multiple ways.

“I think I could affect the game in many different ways, so I’m just trying to enhance all of my skills.”

I know Jones didn’t say much in terms of the competition and whatnot, but, man, I love the passion he clearly has.

In a recent 53-man projection we did prior to training camp, Jones was out choice to win the job, but it’s clear he’s going to have stiff competition from Ojukwu, and more could get added to the list as training camp progresses.
