Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis set to make first start

Levis is the Titans’ second-round pick out of Kentucky

The Tennessee Titans may quickly find themselves in potentially a new quarterback era, with starter Ryan Tannehill likely to miss this Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons with an ankle injury. Rookie quarterback Will Levis is set to be the primary starter against Atlanta, with backup Malik Willis also apparently expected to log some snaps.

It has been an interesting journey for Levis, who at the beginning of the 2023 draft season was touted as a potential top-five pick and was certainly seen as at least a first-rounder. Come draft day that first-round prediction did not come to fruition, and Levis was stuck waiting in the green room for the entirety of the first round. Eventually, Tennessee traded up to the second pick in the second round (33 overall) and snagged Levis as a potential developmental quarterback behind their established but shakey starter.

Levis projects well at the NFL level, with a powerful arm, excellent athleticism, and a keen ability to make a play, he should be able to show off some of those traits against a tough Atlanta Falcon defense. If Levis goes out there and performs well to potentially deliver a win for Tennessee, a quarterback controversy would happen sooner rather than later with the uncertain status of veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
