After releasing offensive lineman Justin Murray on Thursday, the Tennessee Titans are bringing him back.
The team announced on Friday it has re-signed Murray to the practice squad, giving Tennessee a fourth offensive lineman in the group, along with tackles Andrew Rupcich and John Ojukwu and guard Jordan Roos.
Murray, who was once thought to be a contender for the starting right tackle job or a top reserve spot, was actually pretty solid in pass protection during the preseason, allowing just two pressures on 97 offensive snaps, good enough for a Pro Football Focus grade of 69.0.
He struggled with run-blocking, though, posting a grade of 49.3.
Regardless, with all the question marks along the offensive line, both in the starting unit and with the backups, it doesn’t hurt to have another experienced and versatile (he can play guard and tackle) lineman on the practice squad.
Some of those questions will begin to be answered when the Titans take the field for their season-opener in New Orleans on Sept. 10.
