One year after setting the NFL record for the most players fielded in a single season with 91 in 2021, the Tennessee Titans are approaching that mark once again in 2022.
Going into their bye, the Titans have fielded a total of 64 players this season after adding four more to the list during their Week 5 win over the Washington Commanders.
I was unable to locate the number of players the Titans had fielded at this point last season, but going into last week they were just one off the pace.
Tennessee has started 20 different players on defense after Joshua Kalu started in place of an injured Amani Hooker in Week 5, and no team in the league had more money on injured lists than the Titans going into Sunday.
Looking ahead to Week 7, it’s possible we see the 2022 debuts of cornerback Elijah Molden, linebacker Chance Campbell and wide receiver Racey McMath, which would bring the number up to 67.
Four more #Titans — Fitzpatrick, Okuayinonu, Monty Rice, Le'Raven Clark — made 2022 debuts on Sunday, meaning TN has now used 64 players thru 5 weeks.

Chalk it up to poor strength and conditioning coaching, bad luck, or whatever you want, but the Titans have had this issue for two seasons in a row now, leaving all of us baffled.
The good news is Tennessee has been able to overcome the injuries to have some regular-season success, which is a testament to the job head coach Mike Vrabel has done with this team.
Hopefully the injuries calm down in the weeks ahead and the Titans don’t sniff that record they set in 2021, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
