Titans RB Derrick Henry the center of trade rumors

Derrick Henry surfacing as one of the hottest trade rumors before next week’s NFL deadline

Former Alabama running back Derrick Henry has been the staple, and at times, the lone bright spot in the Tennessee Titans‘ offense and organization. With the Tennessee organization trending in the direction of a rebuild and as Henry turns 30 in January, rumors are surfacing that the two sides could part ways ahead of next week’s NFL trade deadline.

The Titans have started the year 2-4 and appear to be likely out of playoff contention already and heading for a top-10 draft pick. That, combined with the fact that Henry will be an unrestricted free agent after the season makes it increasingly more likely that the bruising back gets dealt. The Titans could potentially get a day-two pick for Henry rather than letting him just walk out the door. As for Henry, he’s been paid and has earned every accolade in the league, it’s time for him to go get his ring.

The market for Henry should be quite large as he will essentially be a one-year rental before getting to test the free agency waters next summer. Rumors strongly indicate that the Baltimore Ravens have a lot of interest in the former Crimson Tide Heisman Trophy winner. Pairing Henry with former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson would make for one of the most exciting QB-RB duos in the history of the league. Baltimore also lost their starting RB, J.K. Dobbins to a torn Achilles in Week 1 and needs major reinforcements at the position.

In the past few weeks, Baltimore has looked like arguably the best them in the NFL with a resounding 38-6 victory over the 5-1 Detroit Lions last Sunday.  Two weeks ago, the Ravens beat the Titans 24-16 in London as Henry carried the ball 12 times for 97 yards and a score.
