Titans QB Will Levis will get the start vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Titans announced on Friday that Will Levis will get the start at quarterback against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Titans quarterback Will Levis will be available and start on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, according to Tennessee’s head coach Brian Callahan.

Levis left the Titans’ Week 4 matchup against the Miami Dolphins with a shoulder injury. Mason Rudolph took over at quarterback for him and helped Tennessee secure their first win of the season.

Although Rudolph was the one under center for much of that game, Callahan has remained committed to Levis as the team’s starting quarterback.

The Titans had their bye week in Week 5, giving Levis additional time to work through the injury. He has been a full participant in each practice this week.

Levis has completed 68.4 percent of his throws but is averaging just 6.2 yards per attempt. For some context, that ranks 29th out of 34 eligible quarterbacks–or in short, the Titans aren’t generating many big passing plays.

Levis has also thrown six interceptions, which are tied for the most in football, and he ranks ninth in turnover-worthy play rate as well. If the Colts lose contain, Levis can pick up yards with his legs.

The Colts are dealing with several injuries on the defensive side of the football and it culminated last week in a performance where almost no pressure was put on Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who then proceeded to pick apart the Colts’ secondary.

Potentially, this unit could get a boost this week with Kwity Paye and Kenny Moore listed as questionable for this matchup.

Slowing the Titans’ run game and/or jumping out to a quick lead on offense will help make Levis and the Tennessee offense one-dimensional, giving the Indianapolis pass rush the opportunity to get after an offensive line unit that ranks 25th in pressure rate allowed this season.
