Titans’ play the ‘jersey’ numbers game

New faces, new numbers; the Tennessee Titans announce jersey number changes heading into the regular season.

The Tennessee Titans have made a few changes since their initial 53-man roster was announced. They have claimed players from waivers and added players to the practice squad. In addition, some players have changed their jersey numbers heading into the regular season.

Newly acquired linebacker Ernest Jones is the most notable. The team hopes the veteran solidifies the spot alongside Kenneth Murray Jr., who will continue to wear the No. 53 he wore during the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.

After being claimed on waivers, former Houston Texans pass rusher Ali Gaye will wear No. 59, and former Dallas Cowboys defensive back Julius Wood will have No. 24 on his jersey. The Titans were awarded former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Darrell Baker Jr. off waivers on Thursday, but his number has not been released.

The Titans also announced a number of changes for some players already on the roster. Defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson, the No. 94, safety Quandre Diggs  No. 28, outside linebacker Khalid Duke No. 47 and defensive lineman Isaiah Iton No. 95.

With the season opener a little over a week away, stay tuned for any and all roster updates.
