Titans place Darrynton Evans, Marcus Johnson on IR among 6 moves

The Titans placed a total of three players on Injured Reserve on Thursday.

The Tennessee Titans made a handful of roster moves on Thursday, including placing wide receiver Marcus Johnson and running back Darrynton Evans on Injured Reserve.

In addition to Evans and Johnson, offensive lineman Daniel Munyer was also placed on IR. All three players will be eligible to be activated after three weeks thanks to new IR rules that were instituted in 2020.

Tennessee also activated linebacker Nick Dzubnar off the Reserve/COVID-19 list, waived tight end Luke Stocker and signed defensive lineman Amani Bledsoe to the practice squad.

Bledsoe was a 2019 UDFA signing of the Titans. Tennessee now has 14 of 16 spots filled on their initial practice squad.

The hits just keep on coming for Evans, who suffered a knee injury in the preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons. The 2020 third-round pick missed 11 games during his rookie campaign.

With Evans out for at least the first three games, fellow back Mekhi Sargent could see opportunities early on in the season. Johnson’s absence could open the door for wideout Mason Kinsey.

With Dzubnar off the COVID-19 list, the Titans now have nine players on it, including Ryan Tannehill, Harold Landry, Nate Davis, Ben Jones and Geoff Swaim.

Those players should be activated any day now and aren’t in danger of missing the regular season opener on Sept. 12 against the Arizona Cardinals.
