Coming off two straight wins, and with the New York Jets off to a winless start to the season, the Tennessee Titans open the week as more than a touchdown favorite over their Week 4 opponent.
According to Tipico Sportsbook, the visiting Titans are a 7.5-point favorite over the Jets, with the over/under set 45.5. Both the spread and over/under are tied for the second-highest among this week’s slate.
The Jets, led by quarterback Zach Wilson, have struggled mightily on offense over the first three weeks, where the team has scored just 20 points and is coming off being shutout by the Denver Broncos.
Part of the Jets’ offensive struggles come from the fact that they can’t protect Wilson, who has been sacked 15 times. Tennessee’s pass-rush, which has looked much-improved, should be licking its chops at that prospect.
Despite their offensive issues, the Jets have actually been pretty good on the defensive side of the ball, as New York’s unit ranks 10th against the pass, 14th against the run, and 14th in points allowed per game.
The Titans had their own struggles on offense in Week 3 and now look like they might be without wide receiver A.J. Brown, who strained his hamstring in the win over the Indianapolis Colts and is now considered week-to-week.
The Titans’ defense has been sensational over its last six quarters, allowing just 22 points. Compare that to the first six quarters when Tennessee surrendered 62.
Assuming these aforementioned trends with the Titans’ defense and Jets’ offense continue in Week 4, taking the under feels like the play here.
Tennessee and New York will kickoff at noon CT in MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
