While teams around the NFL are dealing with multiple players opting out of the 2020 season, the Tennessee Titans aren’t one of them.
In fact, after the deadline for players to opt out passed on Thursday at 3 p.m. CT, the Titans remain almost completely intact, with the exception of offensive tackle and 2020 undrafted free agent, Anthony McKinney.
McKinney, who opted out last month, was facing an uphill climb in making the roster anyway, so that isn’t a big loss by any stretch.
One name we were all keeping an eye on was outside linebacker Vic Beasley, who we thought could be the second Titan to opt out after his inexplicable, on-going absence from training camp, but that turned out not to be the case.
Despite the opt-out deadline passing, players still have two avenues they can take to opt out moving forward, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero explained.
Only two ways an NFL player can opt out of the 2020 season after the 4 p.m. ET Thursday deadline:
– New diagnosis he has a high-risk condition
– Player’s family member dies, is hospitalized or otherwise moves to a medical facility because of COVID-19 or related condition

Tennessee is one of 14 teams to have one or less players opt out, while 18 other squads have had multiple players choose to skip the season. Three teams — the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Chargers — are totally unscathed.
The New England Patriots lead the way with eight players having opted out, followed by the Cleveland Browns with five and the New York Jets with four.
