UPDATE: The Panthers have confirmed Ian Rapoport’s earlier report by announcing their second interview with Monti Ossenfort via Twitter.
Tennessee Titans director of player personnel, Monti Ossenfort, has taken the next step to potentially getting the job as the Carolina Panthers’ general manager.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Ossenfort, along with San Francisco 49ers vice president of player personnel, Adam Peters, is set to get a second interview for the Panthers’ vacancy.
This second interview comes after Ossenfort had his first interview on January 5, which was reported by MMQB’s Albert Breer.
As Rapoport notes, it’s possible Carolina will add more to the list of second interviews; however, this extra look from the Panthers leads us to believe that Ossenfort is at least somewhat close to landing the gig.
The #Panthers are interviewing #Titans Director of Player Personnel Monti Ossenfort and #49ers VP of Player Personnel Adam Peters a second time for their GM opening, source said. They could add additional candidates for similar, second round interviews as their search ramps up.

Before getting hired by the Titans in 2020, Ossenfort was the New England Patriots’ director of college scouting for six years, and he spent 15 in total with the organization.
Last year, Ossenfort was interviewed by the Cleveland Browns for their general manager vacancy that ultimately went to Andrew Berry.
