Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kalif Raymond has picked up where he left off last season, as he continues to generate buzz with another impressive showing during the team’s training camp in 2020.
Raymond was a darling of the Titans in 2019. After earning his spot on the initial 53-man roster with a strong training camp and preseason, the 5-foot-8, 182-pound undrafted Holy Cross product came up big on multiple occasions during the regular season and playoffs.
As Titans fans and media laud Raymond for what he’s doing in camp once again this year, he isn’t aware of any of it. That’s because he has deleted all of his social media apps, which he says helps him avoid distractions, according to Erik Bacharach of the Tennessean.
“I wouldn’t even know,” the wide receiver said with a laugh Friday. “I deleted my social media (apps) so I’m not distracted by it. … I have a limited web browser, so some things I can’t even pull up, just to make sure that I don’t keep that in my frame of mind. I have a goal and I have expectations for myself and things that I want to do and things that I want to attack.”
This isn’t something new for Raymond, however. In fact, he avoids his social media accounts by deleting them every time camp rolls around.
“I actually do it every camp — I always shut off all my social media and everything just so I can stay as focused as I can,” Raymond said. “I try to keep it as out of sight and out of mind as I can because there’s some personal goals that I have that I want to make (happen) so I help this team. That’s my main focus.”
While Raymond routinely dusting defenders at practice with his quickness has been impressive to watch, the thing that stands out about him the most at this year’s camp is his improved route-running.
Clearly Raymond, who is known as a deep threat, is trying to become a more complete receiver, and that could lead to him being more involved in the offense moving forward.
After six full-squad practices, Raymond is the clear favorite to land the No. 4 wide receiver job in Tennessee. He also figures to factor into the return game, where he had success last season.
