In what was no doubt the biggest play of the game, the Jacksonville Jaguars forced a fumble on Tennessee Titans quarterback Josh Dobbs late in the fourth quarter that the Jags were able to return for a touchdown, which proved to be the game-winner.
But, was it really a fumble?
On the crucial play, Dobbs’ arm was going forward, and eventually so did the ball, which led many to question if it should have been ruled a fumble in the first place.
At the very least, the play deserved more scrutiny, but it was confirmed on the field rather quickly, allowing the game-changing play to stand.
His arm definitely is moving forward with control of the ball before it is knocked loose. Still kind of shocked this wasn’t looked at closer. pic.twitter.com/pRBhuVvDTI

“I felt like [my arm] was going forward but the refs got to make a call,” said Dobbs. “Personally, I wish I got the ball off a little quicker… I just got to get the ball out quicker, feel that rush — especially at that point in the game — and keep us in a better situation.”
Josh Dobbs said he felt like his arm was moving forward. “I’m a physics guy. It’s a physics thing.”

Despite his issues, Dobbs almost did enough for the Titans to win this game, but the same old issues on offense were just too much to overcome, especially in the second half, when the unit completely fell flat after a very good first half.
As far as his future is concerned, Dobbs said he’s open to staying with the Titans — and the team would be wise to explore keeping him as a backup option for 2023.
Josh Dobbs said he would love to have an opportunity to return to #Titans to compete for a role.
