When it comes to average age, the Tennessee Titans’ initial 53-man roster is one of the oldest in the NFL.
According to Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice, who calculated the average age of every team’s initial 53-man roster, the average age of players on Tennessee’s roster is 26.5 years, which is the fifth-oldest in the league.
That average age also happens to be the exact same as it was last year, which isn’t much of a surprise considering the Titans are returning much of the same team that made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game in 2019.
Tennessee has also seen the same average age on their initial 53-man roster in three of the past four years (2017, 2019 and 2020).
The only teams with an older roster are the San Francisco 49ers (26.6 years), New Orleans Saints (26.7 years), Chicago Bears (26.7 years) and Atlanta Falcons (26.9 years).
The top-five teams with the youngest rosters are as follows: Jacksonville Jaguars (24.9 years), Miami Dolphins (25.0 years), Los Angeles Rams (25.1 years), Cleveland Browns (25.4 years), Green Bay Packers (25.5 years).
Here’s how the Titans have ranked in each of the past four years prior to 2020:
2016: 25.9 years (No. 11)
2017: 26.5 years (No. 27)
2018: 26.1 years (No. 20)
2019: 26.5 years (No. 28)
In a year that saw an abbreviated offseason in preparation for the 2020 campaign, the Titans’ experience and continuity could prove valuable, especially at the start of the season.
