Titans hold tryouts for 5 players, including RBs and DBs

The Titans are taking a look at some running backs and defensive backs via tryouts.

The Tennessee Titans have been doing their due diligence at many positions lately by bringing in players for tryouts, and most recently the team took a look at some defensive backs and running backs.

According to the league’s transaction wire, the Titans brought in running backs Orleans Darkwa and Jeremy McNichols, as well as defensive backs Rashaan Gaulden, Doug Middleton and Adarius Pickett for tryouts.

As of right now, the Titans have three roster locks at running back in Derrick Henry, 2020 third-round pick Darrynton Evans, and fullback Khari Blasingame.

Beyond those three, the Titans are low on attractive, experienced options if they want to carry a fourth back, which is likely why they’re considering more players at the position.

Darkwa has four years of NFL experience under his belt but hasn’t taken a snap since 2017 when he was a member of the New York Giants. McNichols is a familiar face in Tennessee, as he was a standout in Titans training camp and during the preseason last year before eventually getting cut.

The name that stands out the most among the defensive backs brought in is Gaulden, who is a University of Tennessee product and a former third-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2018.
