Titans hiring 49ers’ Ran Carthon as next general manager

The Titans are reportedly hiring Ran Carthon as their next general manager.

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly decided on who their next general manager will be.

According to multiple reports, the Titans are hiring San Francisco 49ers director of pro personnel, Ran Carthon, to the their next general manager.

Tennessee’s reported decision comes on the same day earlier reports suggested the Titans were set to do a second round of interviews.

Carthon was one of the three reported finalists, along with Chicago Bears assistant GM, Ian Cunningham, and Titans vice president of player personnel, Ryan Cowden.

Here’s more on Carthon, per the 49ers’ website:

Ran Carthon enters his second season as director of player personnel after serving five seasons as the director of pro personnel with the 49ers. In his role, Carthon is responsible for evaluating the top college prospects and assists in the construction of the pro free agency board and evaluations. He also works with the football administration staff with player market analysis and unrestricted free agency strategy.

Prior to his stint with the Niners, Carthon held the same position with the Rams from 2012-16, and before that he served as a pro scout for the Atlanta Falcons for three years.

Carthon also had a brief career as a running back in the NFL, spending two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.

My preferred choices were Carthon and Cunningham, with Carthon having the edge, so sign me up for this move all day. Now, we’ll see if Carthon can turn the Titans’ ship around.
