Titans have pre-draft meeting scheduled with EDGE Jonathan Greenard

The Titans and EDGE Jonathan Greenard will have a pre-draft meeting.

The Tennessee Titans are scheduled to have a pre-draft meeting with Florida EDGE Jonathan Greenard.

Draft Wire’s Justin Melo relayed the news of the private meeting, which is going to take place on the morning of his Pro Day on March 31.

The Titans saw a slight improvement in their pass-rush last season, but it simply wasn’t enough. After totaling 39 sacks in 2018, Tennessee finished with 43 in 2019.

And that lackluster pass-rush was a big reason why the Titans weren’t able to slow down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.

Greenard is an intriguing option for Day 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-4, 263-pound edge rusher went to Louisville before transferring to Florida, where he had his best college season in 2019 after totaling career-highs with 9.5 sacks and 52 tackles (15.5 for loss).

As far as reports go for the Titans meeting with edge defenders, we haven’t seen any. The only linebacker they’ve met with that we know of is Appalachian State inside linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither.

While the Titans will likely pickup a pass-rusher at some point in the draft, look for general manager Jon Robinson to make some kind of move to bring one in during free agency first.

And, depending on how big of a splash Robinson makes, Tennessee may be able to prioritize a different position like corner and offensive tackle with their first few picks.
