After signing a former decorated college wrestler in Adam Coon, who will try out for a spot on the offensive line, the Tennessee Titans are yet again going the unconventional route to find players.
Per Broadway Sports’ John Glennon, the Titans have invited former college basketball player Hasahn French to mandatory minicamp, which will start on Tuesday, June 15. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound Saint Louis University product will get a look at tight end.
French, who like Coon did not play college football, was a great rebounder and shot-blocker in college. In fact, he set the all-time school record in the latter category.
One of the bigger question marks for the Titans this offseason is what to do at the tight end position. Not only will we see a competition for the starting spot between Anthony Firkser and Geoff Swaim, but the other two spots behind them on the depth chart are wide open.
French won’t factor into the starting competition, but does have at least a shot to grab a backup spot, as the players vying for those roles don’t have much, if any experience.
If all else fails, French could land a spot on the practice squad, which would still be a major victory for a player attempting to transition to professional football.
