Titans finish 2020 season in top 10 of USA TODAY’s power rankings

The Titans will now look ahead to their playoff matchup against the Ravens.

After securing their first AFC South title since 2008 and an 11-win season by topping the Houston Texans in Week 17, the Tennessee Titans have finished the 2020 campaign in the top 10 of USA TODAY’s power rankings.

According to USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, the Titans land at No. 10, which is one spot higher than they were after the Week 16 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Here are Davis’ thoughts:

10. Titans (11): If RB Derrick Henry can push his overall rushing total for the 2020 season beyond 2,500 yards, this franchise just might finally hoist its first Lombardi Trophy.

Here’s a look at his full top 10:

1. Chiefs

2. Packers

3. Bills

4. Saints

5. Ravens

6. Buccaneers

7. Seahawks

8. Steelers

9. Browns

10. Titans

The Titans will be making their second straight playoff appearance and third in four seasons. Tennessee will host the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round.

As Davis notes, Henry compiling a ton of yards in the playoffs would be great for Tennessee, but the truth of the matter is this team and its elite offense will have a difficult time overcoming a horrid defense.

The Titans rank No. 24 in points allowed per game and have surrendered 30 points or more in eight of 16 games. This unit is going to have a tall task in keeping Lamar Jackson and Co. in check on Sunday.

Baltimore will be looking to exact revenge against a Tennessee team that has beaten it each of the past two times these franchises have met, including in last year’s playoffs. Kickoff is set for 12:05 p.m. CT.
