Titans fans guide to the Colts-Jonathan Taylor mess

If you like Colts drama, this article is for you.

If you enjoy watching the Indianapolis Colts go through drama — of course you do, you’re a Tennessee Titans fan — then you’ll enjoy seeing what is happening with the team and running back Jonathan Taylor.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Taylor has been seeking a lucrative, long-term deal from the Colts ahead of the fourth and final season of his rookie deal, but Indy hasn’t seemed willing to oblige — like, at all.

Colts owner Jim Irsay decided to open his big mouth and comment on the much-debated state of the running back market, which produced a tweet Taylor surely didn’t like (Malki Kawa is Taylor’s agent, by the way).

Since then, it has been reported that Taylor, who is currently on the PUP list as he recovers from offseason ankle surgery, has requested a trade from the team. Irsay has since come out and said he won’t trade his best player.

As if all that wasn’t enough, reports surfaced on Sunday stating the Colts were thinking about moving Taylor from the PUP list to the non-football injury list due to a back injury he suffered while working out on his own.

However, Taylor has denied he ever had a back injury, pushing this situation into even higher levels of insanity.

Two things:

  1. There is no way this situation gets fixed, which leads me to believe Taylor will be playing elsewhere in 2023. That would make life at least a little easier for the Titans, but it didn’t matter much anyway because the Titans usually shut him down.
  2. Thank goodness the Titans have Amy Adams Strunk and not some buffoon for an owner.
