The Tennessee Titans had a rather polarizing draft weekend. Many within the fanbase and local media were confused by some of the team’s choices, while national outlets surprisingly contradicted those concerns by largely praising the team’s approach. Ironically, it’s usually the other way around.
There’s no denying the Titans walked away with some good football players, but most of the criticism locally surrounded the Titans’ decision to neglect arguably their biggest position of need heading into draft weekend.
Nonetheless, the popular opinion around the league is that the Titans walked away with fantastic value at multiple spots.
Most of the praise was aimed toward Tennessee’s ability to potentially walk away with a franchise offensive lineman and quarterback with its first two picks, should everything go according to plan.
Next Gen Stats is the most recent outlet to show their appreciation for the Titans’ class by giving it the second-highest overall score in the NFL (80), with only the Detroit Lions receiving a higher score

Outside of the Peter Skoronski and Will Levis picks, Tennessee also found a way to steal offensive tackle Jaelyn Duncan in Round 6 despite him being considered a consensus top-100 prospect.
These types of high-upside value picks undoubtedly played a large role in the high grade, even if some of them may not have immediately been popular choices with those who follow the team closely.
