Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, who currently leads the NFL in rushing yards and is in a good position to repeat as the league’s rushing champion, heaped praise on Minnesota Vikings running back, Dalvin Cook.
Cook’s 1,069 rushing yards leaves him in second place in the NFL behind Henry, who has 1,079 rushing yards, just 10 more than Cook. This is a race that will undoubtedly come down to the wire
On Wednesday, Henry once again showed his humble side by saying that Cook is the best running back in the NFL (H/T Mike Hogan of SI.com).
“Dalvin Cook is having a phenomenal season,” Henry said. “Right now, I would say he’s the best back in football. Just week after week, always dominating. Always having a great game. Running the ball. Catching the ball. Very explosive.”
One thing that separates Henry and Cook is their respective involvement in the passing game. Cook has totaled 25 receptions for 234 yards, while Henry has just 12 receptions for 86 yards.
Regardless, Henry remains one of the fiercest, most explosive runners in the sport and that has been more than enough to help lead the Titans to success during his career.
And those are qualities that Henry has seen from Cook when watching film of the Vikings star.
“I love watching him run on film,” Henry said. “He is doing a great job this year. That guy’s just been incredible the whole year. He runs hard, runs through tackles, makes guys miss. He’s just been balling.”
The Titans got a good look at Cook in Week 3 when they took on the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium. In that game, Minnesota’s back totaled 199 yards (181 rushing) and one score, but the Titans ended up winning, 31-30.
