Derrick Henry rushed for 130 yards on 29 carries and crossed the goal line three times in the Tennessee Titans’ 37-19 victory over their division rival in the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Henry, 27, leads the league in rushing yards (640) and attempts (142), and he’s on pace to break the single-season rushing record with 128 rushing yards per game, which works out to 2,176 over 17 games and is 71 more than Eric Dickerson’s all-time mark of 2,105.
As it turns out, his 640 rushing yards are the most through the first five games of a season since DeMarco Murray rushed for 670 yards with the Dallas Cowboys in 2014.
Henry’s five-game mark is also the best in franchise history, which tops the previous record of 588 he set himself in 2020.
With an NFL-best 640 rushing yards, #Titans' Henry has the most rushing yards through 5 games of a season in franchise history, topping his previous mark of 588 rushing yards in 2020.

Henry’s workload has been the hot topic through the first five weeks of the 2021 season, given he led the league in attempts and rushing yards the past two seasons as well.
“This whole team loves Derrick (Henry),” Taylor Lewan said on Sunday. “I love Derrick. He’s a great guy. He wants to win, he wants to play well, but he could have 20 yards and as long as we win, that’s all he cares about. I’m a huge fan of Derrick Henry. Have been for a long time, and I’m just happy he’s on our team, man. I really am.”
Murray led the league with 392 rushing attempts for 1,845 yards in his final season with the Cowboys before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent one season there before he was traded again to Tennessee in 2016.
