Titans’ Derrick Henry passes Vikings’ Dalvin Cook in Pro Bowl voting

Henry and Cook are both vying for the rushing crown in 2020.

After trailing Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook in Pro Bowl voting, Tennessee Titans rusher Derrick Henry recently passed him as the top vote-getter in the NFL among running backs.

As of Thursday and with just one week left until voting closes, Henry had a slight lead, with the Titans back receiving 235,005 votes to Cook’s 234,564, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.

Adding to that, the Alabama product is now third in the league among all positions in the vote, trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes (261,309) and the Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson (251,390).

As far as the rest of the Titans are concerned, the only other player from the team to be in the top 10 at their respective position is cornerback Malcolm Butler, who is seventh among corners. Butler has fallen since voting began, though, as he was once in second place at the position.

Not only are Henry and Cook neck-and-neck for the top vote total, but they are also No. 1 and No. 2 in rushing yards. Henry’s 1,317 yards are just 67 more than Cook’s 1,250 yards.

Henry, who is vying for his second consecutive rushing crown, has matchups against three bottom-five run defenses over the last four weeks, giving him a good chance to be the first running back since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2006-07 to repeat.

Cook’s path to winning the rushing title will be a bit more difficult, as he faces two elite run defenses in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 1) and New Orleans Saints (No. 2) in two of the next three weeks, with a matchup against a middle-of-the-road Chicago Bears run defense sandwiched in between.
