After a 2019 season that saw him lead the NFL in rushing yards, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is among the highest-rated players at his position in Madden NFL 21.
The latest installment of the franchise, which releases on August 25, has been revealing their ratings through ESPN, and on Tuesday the top-10 ratings for running backs were released.
And as it turns out, Henry was rated as a 93 overall, second only to the Carolina Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey, who rated as a perfect 99.
The bruising Henry wasn’t even the highest-rated running back on his own team last year (that was Dion Lewis), but Henry made a 10-point jump from 83 to 93 and from RB T-22 to RB 2 this season. This happened due to a 303-carry, 1,540-yard, 16-rushing-touchdown season — leading the NFL in all those categories.
Here’s a look at the entire top 10 overall ratings for running backs:
- Christian McCaffrey – 99
- Derrick Henry – 93
- Nick Chubb – 92
- Ezekiel Elliot – 92
- Dalvin Cook – 91
- Saquon Barkley – 91
- Aaron Jones – 90
- Joe Mixon – 89
- Josh Jacobs – 88
- Alvin Kamara – 88
While Henry isn’t known for his dual-threat ability like some of the other backs on this list, it didn’t stop him from getting one of the highest ratings at the position.
Henry started off with an 83 overall rating in Madden NFL 20 before jumping 10 points to a 93 in the last rankings update.
If he can get going in the passing game and continue to produce what he has in recent years on the ground in 2020, he could inch his way to a 99 by season’s end.
