Titans claim Sam Ficken, waive Blake Haubeil among 3 roster moves

The Titans also placed TE Briley Moore on IR.

The Tennessee Titans made a trio of roster moves on Sunday, including a pair at the kicker position, the team announced.

The Titans have claimed kicker Sam Ficken, who was waived by the New York Jets on Saturday, off waivers, but have also parted ways with 2021 undrafted free agent, kicker Blake Haubeil.

In addition, the Titans also placed tight end Briley Moore on Injured Reserve. The rookie was carted off the practice field with a knee injury on Saturday.

Ficken, a four-year pro, has spent time with the Los Angeles Rams and Jets during his career, posting an overall field goal success rate of 72.9 percent.

In 2020, the Penn State product appeared in nine games with the Jets and made 86.7 percent (13-of-15) of his field goal attempts, with a long of 54 yards.

Ficken will now join a competition that already includes kicker Tucker McCann, who remains on the roster and is safe for now. Like Haubeil, McCann has not been impressive early on in camp.

The Titans have been busy looking at kickers recently, as they also worked out a pair of former CFL kickers in Sergio Castillo and Lirim Hajrullahu.

We’ll see if Ficken can end Tennessee’s search in the days and weeks ahead.
