One of the biggest questions that remain unanswered for the Tennessee Titans ahead of training camp is: will cornerback and 2021 first-round pick, Caleb Farley, be ready to take the field when it begins?
“I rebuke that in the name of Jesus,” Farley said back in April when asked if he might miss training camp due to the back surgery he had in March. “I’m expecting to be ready.”
While Farley is expected to participate in training camp, exactly when he’ll be able make his practice debut isn’t as certain. The Virginia Tech product did not participate in on-field work at OTAs and minicamp.
Jim Wyatt of Titans Online stated in a recent mailbag that he does not expect Farley to be ready for Day 1 of training camp, which begins on July 27, although he does expect him to eventually be out there.
Caleb Farley will be among many new faces. When will he be out there? Right now, it’s unclear. I don’t expect him to be out there for Day One of training camp. I do expect him to be out there at some point in camp, however. It just depends on how his rehab continues to go. I hear he’s making good progress.
Considering Wyatt’s connection to the team, this statement carries a lot of weight. As a result, expectations for when Farley will take the field should be tempered, which really should have been the case all along.
Of course, the last thing the Titans want to do is rush back their first-round pick and they should take it slow, but the longer Farley is out during training camp, the less of a chance he has at making an impact early on in the season.
