Titans’ Brian Callahan: Tyjae Spears, Jaelyn Duncan out in Week 18

Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan offered a grim outlook on Tyjae Spears and Jaelyn Duncan after their Week 17 loss.

Not only did the Tennessee Titans fall to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17, they suffered two more injuries on an already battered roster.

Offensive tackle Jaelyn Duncan and running back Tyjae Spears both left the contest due to injury and now appear set to miss the season finale against the Houston Texans.

After the game, head coach Brian Callahan updated their injury status and declared them out for Week 18.

Duncan’s return from injured reserve (IR) was short-lived. He returned to the starting line-up this week after a hamstring injury cost him multiple games and now a shoulder injury will end his season. The makeshift offensive line could not hold up against the Jaguars and will likely have a new combination of players against the Texans.

Already down running back Tony Pollard, Tennessee lost Spears to another concussion in the second half. This was unfortunate for both Spears and the Titans, as he was the majority of their offense to that point.

In all, he recorded 20 carries for a career-high 95 yards. He had eclipsed the century mark before his last carry, which ended in a five-yard loss and ended his season.

Spears has had a rough season on the injury front, and this was his second concussion of 2024. He will finish the 2024 campaign with 312 rushing yards on 84 rushes (3.7 per) and five total touchdowns.

The banged-up Titans will limp into the 2024 season finale against the Texans on Sunday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
