Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown was on a pitch count during the Week 5 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars after coming back from injury, and it appears that will be the case for the foreseeable future — at least according to him.
Brown says that “I’m not there yet” when it comes to being out there for every snap, and being limited in games could continue until Week 10, but that’s not because he wants it that way.
“I want to be out there every snap. I know I’m not there yet, that’ll come by like Week 10, I’ll play the whole game,” Brown said. “Because they won’t allow me, they won’t allow me yet. But whenever I’m in there I’ve got to do what I got to do, not try to just preserve energy. I’ve got to make plays when I’m in there, I’ve got to be effective.”

When pressed on Brown’s comments, head coach Mike Vrabel said he didn’t know what limitations his young receiver was referring to.
“It’s NFL wide receivers, there’s a level of expectation that you’re going to have to run, so I’m not sure what limitations he’s referring to,” Vrabel said. “These are all things that are new to me; we take out the guys when they’re tired and we have to focus on our conditioning. We want our best players in there as much as they can be in there, that’s usually good for the team.”

If you’re confused as to what’s going on here, so are we.
But, the good news is that the snap counts never lie and we’ll have a better idea of just how limited Brown was after Monday night’s contest.
