Titans’ A.J. Brown could become AFC’s best WR, says Peter Schrager

Perhaps nobody outside of Nashville is higher on A.J. Brown than Peter Schrager.

Perhaps nobody in the football world outside of Nashville is higher on Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown than NFL Network’s Peter Schrager.

On “Good Morning Football” on NFL Network, Schrager chose Brown as his No. 2 breakout player for 2020, even though he already had a sensational rookie season with 1,051 yards and nine total touchdowns.

Schrager realizes that, so he’s projecting a different kind of breakout season for the second-year pro that involves the Brown crossing over into elite status.

Schrager believes Brown has the potential to enter the conversation as one of the top receivers in the NFL with the likes of Michael Thomas and Julio Jones, which is damn good company.

On top of that, he thinks Brown could emerge as the best wide receiver in the entire AFC when the 2020 campaign is all said and done.

Check it out.

Is Schrager crazy for making such a statement? Absolutely not.

After all, from Week 7 on when quarterback Ryan Tannehill took over under center, Brown was graded as the third-best wideout in the entire NFL behind, you guessed it, Michael Thomas and Julio Jones.

If you take Brown’s 77.8 yards per game average in that span and extrapolate it over 16 games, he would have finished with 1,244 receiving yards, good enough for No. 4 in the league in 2019.

We’ll see if Brown can match or better that pace now that Tannehill will have a full 16-game slate as the starter. If he does, the Titans will officially have a superstar.
