The Tennessee Titans have reportedly agreed to terms with their first free agent in former Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle, Denico Autry.
The news comes from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who notes that the contract is for three years and worth $21.5 million. There is $9 million guaranteed and it will pay him $14.25 million over the first two years.
Autry was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the then-Oakland Raiders back in 2014. He spent four seasons there before moving on to play for the Colts.
In three seasons in Indianapolis, Autry tallied 20 sacks, including a career-high nine in 12 games in 2018. In 2020, Autry finished with 7.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss and 10 QB hits.
It remains to be seen how the Titans will use Autry, but he does offer plenty of versatility, as he excels as both a pass rusher and run defender.
Autry played defensive end in the Colts’ 4-3 defense, however, he could be deployed at nose tackle or end in the Titans’ 3-4 defense, depending on the situation. No matter where he goes, he’ll be an upgrade over what the team had last season.
