Titans activate Brett Kern from COVID-19 list among 3 roster moves

The Titans made three roster moves ahead of their Week 17 contest.

The Tennessee Titans announced that they have activated punter Brett Kern from the Reserve/COVID-19 list just in time for the Week 17 contest against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium.

Kern was placed on the list on Tuesday, but a report suggested that he was a close contact rather than a positive test, which gave him a shot to still play this week.

Unfortunately for the Titans, it looks as though kicker Stephen Gostkowski wasn’t as lucky. Gostkowski remains on the COVID-19 list and will miss Sunday’s contest.

In Gostkowski’s place, the Titans will deploy rookie kicker Sam Sloman, who, along with veteran outside linebacker Brooks Reed, has been elevated from the practice squad for Week 17. Both players will revert back following the game.

Sloman was drafted in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Los Angeles Rams and appeared in seven games earlier this season. He was successful on 8 of 11 field goal tries and 18 of 21 extra points.
