Now that the first wave of free agency is officially behind us, experts have begun putting out mock drafts that take into account the moves teams have made up until this point.
Cam Mellor of Pro Football Network recently took a shot at a three-round mock draft and he ended up landing a massive haul for the Tennessee Titans when it was all said and done.
After making several trades throughout the mock draft, Mellor had the Titans finishing with five picks in the first three rounds, while also walking away with a future second-rounder.
His first trade came in Round 1, when he had the Titans trading down with the Chargers. This trade brought Tennessee Nos. 21 and 85 overall, along with a 2024 second-round pick in exchange for pick No. 11 and a 2024 fourth-round pick.
Mellor then had the Titans selecting Oklahoma offensive tackle Anton Harrison with their first pick, with his reason being as follows:
The top tackles were off the board at No. 11, allowing Tennessee to bite on the Chargers’ trade offer to move back to No. 21. Despite a fringe-level Day 1 grade on their board, Anton Harrison is the top available OT and a no-brainer here.
Harrison is long, lean, athletic, and strong; he fills a big need and gives the Titans a big-time player to rely on as they figure out long-term plans at quarterback.
The Pro Football Network analyst then had the Titans make another trade in Round 2, sending pick No. 41 to the Commanders in exchange for pick Nos. 47 and 97.
He then went ahead and selected Tennessee wide receiver Cedric Tillman at No. 47 overall. Tillman is a big-bodied weapon that possesses a large catch radius, and he knows how to use it to his advantage.
The Tennessee product would instantly provide some much-needed talent and upside to a wide receiver room that sure can use it.
In Round 3, Mellor went defense with Tennessee’s two picks, selecting Northwestern’s Adetomiwa Adebawore (EDGE) No. 72 overall, and Cincinnati’s Ivan Pace Jr. (LB) No. 85 overall.
Adebawore is an athletic freak whose skill set would be welcomed with open arms by the Titans’ already stout front-four.
Pace Jr. is an undersized linebacker who plays the position the way it’s supposed to be played. He’s smart, fast, and isn’t afraid to hit anybody despite his smaller build for his position.
Lastly, Tennessee ended Day 2 by selecting one of the most underrated interior prospects in the entire class, Arkansas’ Ricky Stromberg.
Mellor has Stromberg going to the Titans with their newly acquired No. 97 overall pick. That’s a little rich for me personally, but Stromberg is someone who I can see climbing his way into this range by the time the draft rolls around.
The Arkansas product is a smart and gritty center that always puts himself and his unit in a position to compete on each rep.
Needless to say, this type of haul, the entirety of which can be seen below, would be welcomed in my book, even though I would probably go in a few different directions with each pick depending on who was on the board.
Round 1, No. 21 overall: OT Anton Harrison, Oklahoma
Round 2, No. 47 overall: WR Cedric Tillman, Tennessee
Round 3, No. 72 overall: EDGE Adetomiwa Adebawore, Northwestern
Round 3, No. 85 overall: LB Ivan Pace Jr., Cincinnati
Round 3, No. 92 overall: IOL Ricky Stromberg, Arkansas
