While the Tennessee Titans’ defense hasn’t been good between the 20’s, the unit has been elite in the red zone this season.
Per Team Rankings, the Titans sport the second-best red-zone defense in the NFL this season, with opposing teams scoring on just 38.18 percent of their trips in 2023.
And that mark is also historically impressive, as it ranks as the fourth-best in the NFL since 2014. Only the 2015 New York Jets (35.0), 2017 Los Angeles Chargers (36.1) and 2023 Atlanta Falcons (38.1) posted better percentages.
Adding to that, no Titans defense has posted a better success rate in the red zone since 1999.

All of this is not to say the Titans’ defense hasn’t been a disappointment overall, because it certainly has. But one can only imagine how much worse this season would have gone if Tennessee didn’t buckle down in the red zone.
