2023 was a season of ups and downs for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But one thing that was consistent throughout the year was the cliches. Pittsburgh got off to a very slow start, and all we heard were excuses about getting on the same page, flipping the script, and getting back to work.
This was after months of work getting ready for the season. This was also well into the season. It seemed that every week after a loss the excuses were the same and head coach Mike Tomlin and the players just kept repeating the same sentiment about needing to prepare and make better use of time.
Maybe this offseason should be dedicated to time management. There were plenty of teams who came out of the gate and even after weeks and weeks to prepare didn’t have to knock off the rust and didn’t seem to need to go back to the drawing board week after week.
There was nothing more frustrating during the year than watching highly paid professionals play like they weren’t putting in the work through the week. Hopefully, this is an area of emphasis for head coach Mike Tomlin so this team can start strong and not just finish strong.
