Thunder rookie Josh Giddey signs shoe endorsement deal with Nike

Giddey becomes the eighth rookie to sign with Nike this year, joining Cade Cunningham, Scottie Barnes and Jonathan Kuminga among others.

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Josh Giddey has reportedly signed a multiyear shoe and apparel endorsement contract with Nike, according to Nick DePaula of ESPN.

Giddey becomes the eighth rookie to sign with Nike this year, joining Cade Cunningham, Scottie Barnes and Jonathan Kuminga among others. They join a star-studded roster of athletes, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

The crop of rookie players this year are expected to help Nike usher in their new Greater Than series, wearing player-exclusive models such as the GT Cut, GT Run and GT Jump. It is estimated that 68% of NBA players wear Nike on the court.

Giddey, the sixth overall pick, was limited to just five minutes with the Thunder in the Las Vegas Summer League after suffering an ankle injury. The team opted to be cautious with the injury and did not want to rush him back into action.
