Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander out against Rockets on Wednesday

OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will miss the second game against the Houston Rockets with a left knee sprain.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, according to Rockets reporter Cayleigh Griffin.

Gilgeous-Alexander is listed as out with a left knee sprain. This will be the third-year guard’s first missed game of the season.

On Monday against the Rockets, Gilgeous-Alexander scored 19 points, breaking a streak of five straight games of more than 20 points. He is averaging 21.8 points per game this season, his first year as the primary option for a team’s offense.

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault will have a couple options to take the spot of Gilgeous-Alexander in the starting lineup. The simplest would be to add Hamidou Diallo next to Theo Maledon at the guard position, but Daigneault could also move Lu Dort to guard and insert Isaiah Roby at a forward position alongside Darius Bazley with Al Horford at center.

George Hill will be out for at least four weeks with a thumb injury.

More updates will follow this report after Daigneault speaks with media.

The Thunder and Rockets game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. On Monday, Houston beat Oklahoma City 136-106.
