Two years after departing Nebraska for the NBA, Isaiah Roby reached an important landmark in his education.
Roby graduated from Nebraska on Saturday. The Husker posted a short video to Twitter of him in cap and gown with the caption “A dream come true,” and the Nebraska Instagram account included him in a picture celebrating the graduates.
Roby played three seasons of basketball at Nebraska from 2016-19. After averaging 11.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists as a junior, he took a pause on his education to pursue the NBA.
He was selected in the second round of the 2019 draft by the Detroit Pistons, who traded his rights to the Dallas Mavericks on draft night. The Thunder acquired Roby in a January 2020 trade.
Now, Roby has gone back to school to complete his degree.
A dream come true.

Roby will be one of the key pieces of the Thunder this year as the organization evaluates how the future of the player and team align. Showing the ability to play a ball-handling role and be a versatile option up to the center position, Roby made a positive impression last season.
The 23-year-old has a $1.9 million team option for the 2022-23 season, after which he will be an unrestricted free agent.
