Three-star in-state edge rusher chooses Washington

The Washington Huskies added their second defender to the 2025 recruiting class in Victor Sanchez Hernandez.

It appears that the Washington Huskies are bracing for a massive wave of commitments to hit the shores of Montlake. Coach Jedd Fisch saw the first member of that wave and second defensive player officially join the 2025 class on Sunday when three-star edge rusher Victor Sanchez Hernandez announced his intentions to stay home.

“I chose Washington because they have something really special going on over here,” Sanchez Hernandez told 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman.

He received a late offer from defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi, earning his scholarship at Washington’s annual Top Dawg camp, and was added to Friday’s list of official visitors soon after. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound product of Kamiak High School is ranked as the No. 16 player in Washington and the nation’s No. 113 edge rusher by 247Sports.

“Their motto of ‘be a pro’ is truly the future of Washington and I want to be a part of it,” he told Huffman. “Another reason I chose Washington was because it’s close to home and I feel like I would be playing for a bigger reason.”

Sanchez Hernandez is an extremely intriguing prospect who could play all over the defensive line as he continues to fill out his frame, with an extensive background in taekwondo, where he competes internationally and has hopes of competing in the Olympics.

A developmental player with a lot of room to grow, he could end up being a strong contributor after a few years of development under Kaufusi and defensive coordinator Steve Belichick.
