Three-star edge rusher Devin Hyde appears to be zeroing in on his college choice and the Washington Huskies are on the shortlist. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect from Menlo Atherton High School holds 13 offers and has official visits set with California and Washington after taking a trip to UCLA on May 10.
Hyde, the nation’s No. 50 edge rusher according to 247Sports, is set to take his official visit to Seattle on May 31 and already has a long relationship with the city and the Huskies thanks to his mother, a Washington graduate.
“I’ve been up there a few times and really do enjoy it,” Hyde told Tyler Harden of TTJH Sports. “Washington has a campus you can’t really beat and my mom has become really successful, and I know if I go to that school, it’ll do really good things for me.”
“There’s a lot to say about what Washington football really is. Those guys that were on the national championship team had three different head coaches and they were still phenomenal players. That says a lot about what’s true of Washington football.”
Hyde has the prototypical frame defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi is looking for on the edge and after the Huskies lost all four starters up front from the national championship team to the NFL, the coaching staff is looking to add promising talents like Hyde to the room.
