A disappointing final chapter for Jonathan Taylor
While he did become just the second player ever to rush for over 2,000 yards twice during yesterday’s game, Taylor would be the first to tell you that his performance against the Ducks was not what he was hoping for in what was almost certainly his final game as a collegian.
The two-time Doak Walker Award recipient rushed for 94 yards on 21 carries for an average of 4.5, and while those are okay numbers, they certainly are not great ones by any stretch. For a player that we are used to seeing routinely rip off explosive runs, Taylor’s longest of the night was just 18 yards, and he didn’t find the end zone once. The Badgers could have really used a big play or two from their star back to give them some jolts of momentum when they were at their lowest.
Taylor’s ball security issues also resurfaced last night, as he coughed up a second-quarter fumble in Wisconsin’s territory that could have easily turned into Oregon points.
