Three reasons why the Texas Longhorns lost to Iowa State on Friday

The Texas Longhorns lost a game on Friday afternoon that they just couldn’t afford to. A primary reason being the head coach Tom Herman.

No second quarter offense

After taking the 13-7 lead in the first quarter, the Longhorns had absolutely no offense to speak of in the second quarter. The fumble to end their previous drive ended what looked to be yet another promising drive. Their biggest plays came when targeting Brennan Eagles, however, no one else was stepping up to the challenge.

After a negative run by Bijan Robinson, Ehlinger found Joshua Moore for the 11-yard gain on second down to extend the drive. The Longhorns would get another four-yard run from Roschon Johnson before getting no gain on a pass to Jordan Whittington. The Longhorns faced a third down and six from their own 49-yard line. Their first half would end very much the way their second half essentially ended, Ehlinger was sacked to kill the drive.

Texas gained a total of eight yards in the second quarter.
