What ESPN Says…

After upset losses to Kansas State and Iowa State and numerous glitches in a scruffy overtime win over Texas, Lincoln Riley’s Sooners were in an uncertain place midway through 2020. But they outscored their last six opponents by an average of 28 points per game and outgained them by 2.5 yards per play.

Running back Rhamondre Stevenson and defensive end Ronnie Perkins were big reasons for this surge. Suspended for the first five games of the season, each did his best to make up for lost time.

The Oklahoma Sooners went into last season relying on a pair of young backs with Kennedy Brooks opting out and Rhamondre Stevenson’s suspension. The tandem of T.J. Pledger and Seth McGowan were both expected to hold down the fort until the return of Stevenson. This year Kennedy Brooks returns to the lineup with a pair of 1,000-yard campaigns under his belt. With both Pledger and McGowan gone, the team will turn to impact transfer Eric Gray. The team also recently added former LSU Tigers running back Tre Bradford as a rotational option this season. Plenty of experience this season compared to last.
