Three days before facing Colts DE Denico Autry, Raiders add his brother DT Lee Autry to practice squad

We all know the tendency of teams to sign players who were recently on the rosters of the team they’re about to face. The Raiders just did it twice recently when they added former Falcons edge rushers Vic Beasley and Takkarist McKinley ahead of their week 12 matchup in Atlanta (it didn’t help).

But what of signing relatives of players on the team you’re about to face?

The Raiders are three days away from facing the Colts. The Colts’ best edge rusher is former Raiders undrafted star Denico Autry. And today the Raiders signed Denico’s brother, Lee Autry, to their practice squad.

Like Denico, Lee went undrafted out of Mississippi State.

Lee signed originally with the Bears following the 2020 draft but didn’t make the roster out of camp. He would sign on to the Chargers’ practice squad on October 8 and was released on October 28.

It’s certainly possible Lee being Denico’s brother is a coincidence. Even a crazy one. Because Lee’s recent three-week stint with the Chargers which is the Raiders’ next opponent after the Colts. So, perhaps there could be some benefit there.
