This Patriots’ running back should officially be on your fantasy football sleeper list

His average draft position is staggeringly low.

Damien Harris is a player that every fantasy football owner should keep on their radar. The New England Patriots running back has an average draft position of 244, but has served as the lead back in training camp through a few weeks of work.

There is a significant chance that Sony Michel, the lead running back, could start the season on the physically unable to perform list. If that were the case, Harris would just have Lamar Miller, who is recovering from an ACL tear in 2019, and Rex Burkhead as competition for the job on early downs. To this point, Harris seems to have a strong lead in the position group.

And I’m not the only who expects big things from Harris. Here’s a look at what ESPN’s Mike Reiss wrote about Harris:

“When Sony Michel had foot surgery in May, putting his availability for the start of training camp in question, it opened the door for 2019 third-round pick Damien Harris (Alabama) to stake an early claim to the Patriots’ top running back spot. He has done just that. Harris’ fresh legs and soft hands in the passing game (e.g., a one-handed catch Tuesday) have him in good position to be a primary option alongside Rex Burkhead. Starting left guard Joe Thuney used the word ‘explosive’ to describe Harris’ running style, as he is tough to bring down.”

The Patriots’ running backs can be tricky propositions to play in fantasy. But Harris is just too tantalizing at the spot where he’s getting drafted. He’s absolutely worth taking.
