This OL combination has Patriots coach Jerod Mayo feeling encouraged

Could this be the best offensive line combination for the Patriots?

New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo is pleased with the progress he’s seeing in the team’s latest offensive line combination. Rookie Layden Robinson took the right guard spot, and Mike Onwenu moved to right tackle.

The Patriots have been experimenting with offensive line combinations throughout the preseason. Vederian Lowe had been working in at left tackle, but an injury forced the recent shake-up at the position.

The other filled positions were Chukwuma Okorafor at left tackle, David Andrews at center and Sidy Sow at left guard. After struggling with previous combinations, Mayo admitted the early signs from the new lineup were “encouraging.”

Offensive line play was a major issue for New England last season, and they are still working to get it rectified. So much of the talk has been about quarterback and wide receiver, but there is no offensive success if the line fails to win in the trenches.
