Guadalajara goalkeeper Toño Rodriguez saw an opening. Perhaps that’s an understatement — he saw a wide open net.
In stoppage time in his team’s 3-1 win over Veracruz in Mexico’s Liga MX on Saturday, Rodriguez booted a full-field kick from his own box, and scored the final goal of the match. It surely a was a backbreaker for Veracruz, who had apparently moved their keeper up to attack in the final moments of the game. The move very clearly backfired, and created a decisive scoreline in favor of Guadalajara.
Here’s a look a video of the play. (The audio is in Spanish, and it is delightful: “TOÑO! TOÑO! TOÑO! GOAL!”)

This has got to be an all-time high for Rodriguez.
